PATROLS have been increased and work is ongoing in the north of Gwynedd to tackle antisocial behaviour (ASB) following a number of recent incidents.

North Wales Police is aware of several videos that have been widely circulated on social media earlier this week.

One video shows four youths walking through Caernarfon town centre, one of whom is carrying a metal pole.

They have since been identified and are subject of an ongoing investigation.

A video has also been circulated on social media of youths fighting in the vicinity of the lagoons in Llanberis.

During the fight, a knife can be seen falling from the waistband of one of the youth’s trousers onto the floor.

They have also been identified and the man in possession of the knife has been arrested, and the knife recovered.

He is now subject of stringent bail conditions, including night-time curfew while the investigation continues.

Inspector Arwel Hughes said: “These incidents are routinely shared on social media but not always reported to the police.

“Despite this, we have made an arrest, and further arrests are anticipated in connection with these incidents. Individuals involved should expect a visit from the police.

“Additional police officers will be out conducting patrols throughout this weekend, which will include areas around the lagoons of Llanberis and the Maes in Caernarfon.

“I would urge the community to report incidents of ASB directly to us and please engage with those officers.

“The individuals who are intent on causing misery are in the minority and are by no means reflective of our communities.

“I would like to thank those individuals who have come forward and assisted these the investigation to date.”
