A “FAMILY Fun Day” held in Gwynedd last weekend raised more than £1,750 to support those currently suffering in Ukraine.

Angela Williams, along with her daughters Nicola and Jenn, organised the event, which was held at Talysarn Community Centre on Saturday, March 26.

A tombola, a jumble sale and a raffle were among the attractions at this free event, with every penny of the £1,820 it raised going to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

Their fundraising efforts are not yet finished, either, as they will also be auctioning items with (auctioneers) Rogers Jones & Co of Colwyn Bay in aid of the DEC appeal.

This is an online auction, meaning people can take part from anywhere, while the catalogue is live now, allowing early bids should you be unable to take part on April 5, the day it takes place.

Nicola said: “The event went well; we raised £1,770 on the day and have since secured another £50 in donations, bringing our total to £1,820, but we aren't done yet!

“We have some amazing items and experiences donated that are up for auction with Rogers Jones & Co, who have kindly waived their sellers’ fees.

“We have donated our excess jumble to Corinne Renshaw, who has a table at Mona car boot sale which takes place every Sunday with, all proceeds also being donated to the DEC Ukraine appeal.

“Suffice to say that none of this would have been possible without the tremendous support of local businesses, the public, family and friends.

“It's been a tiring experience, but well worth the effort! We were met with a few obstacles, but would we change anything? No.

“We couldn't just sit back and just do nothing, and we take great pride in achieving what we have so far.

“To date, it has been our most successful fundraiser, having previously raised money for the Wales Air Ambulance, Prostate Cymru, Hope House and the Boxing Day tsunami appeal.”
