A FINE dining restaurant on Anglesey which opened a year ago has closed suddenly after "financial challenges".

Y Parlwr, Welsh for 'The Parlour', a 16-cover, tasting menu only restaurant, is located on High Street, Rhosneigr.

The restaurant, which was awarded two AA Rosettes, opened in January 2023. Hefin Roberts, a well-known and respected chef, was at the helm of the fine dining establishment which was headed up by Philip and Louise Goodwin of Out of The Blue Group.

A statement from Y Parlwr said: "With regret, we must share the news of Y Parlwr's immediate closure.

"Y Parlwr has produced fantastic food, wine and service since opening last year. This has been acknowledged in the form of critical acclaim, and the award of 2 AA Rosettes. However, faced with steeply increasing costs and pressure on our customers' budgets, we just can't make it work financially.

"The decision was not made lightly and we have wrestled with it, dedicating considerable time to exploring options to sustain the restaurant, but without success.

"The choice to close stems from persistent financial challenges exacerbated by rising energy costs, the ongoing cost of the living crisis, and price hikes in other areas of the business; burdens that, like you, we have shouldered, but there comes a point where we can do no longer.
