AN EVENT will be held on December 9 at Copa Diner and Bar, Caernarfon to remember Gareth Fôn Jones, the former headteacher of Ysgol Dolbadarn, Llanberis.

The Welsh star, Dafydd Iwan, will be the main performer of the night, with singer Dylan Evans, from Llanllyfni, supporting.

The proceeds from the concert and the raffle drawn on the night will go to the Anthony Nolan Trust and to Ward Alaw, Ysbyty Gwynedd, through the Awyr Las charity.

Gareth was informed in July 2022 that MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome) had returned following a bone marrow transplant he received in September 2015 for the same condition.

Thanks to the work of the Anthony Nolan Trust in 2015, it was possible to find a stem cell donor in Germany, and Gareth received almost eight extra years of life.

Following his transplant, he established the Tŷ Castell restaurant in Caernarfon, and continued to lead Ysgol Dolbadarn, which received “excellent” in every category during their last inspection.

Gareth's battle ended on June 29 on Ward Alaw, Ysbyty Gwynedd.

The evening has been organised by Copa with the support of Santander Bank, Caernarfon, which will provide sponsorship of £2,000 for the charities - on condition that the evening also matches this sum.

The raffle includes a trip for two to Amsterdam by Teithiau Elfyn Thomas, a football signed by the Welsh men's team, more than 11 vouchers and gift tickets, and other generous prizes.

Access to Copa will be from 7pm on December 9.

Entry price is £15 on the door or via Eventbrite, and the gig will start from 8pm, with a DJ ending the night.

Raffle tickets can be bought on the night at Copa until 9pm.
