CAERNARFON were unable to derail runaway WRU National League Division One North leaders Nant Conwy in a 47-12 home loss.

The title favourites are now 15 points clear at the summit after another dominant display on both sides of the ball, and the all-conquering side wasted no time in getting on the scoresheet when Carwyn Ellis went over after just five minutes. Arthur Lennon added the extras.

A second try was not long in coming and it arrived on nine minutes when Robin Glyn crossed the white wash, with Lennon once again adding the extras.

Gradually the home side began to see more of the ball and they were rewarded for their improved play on 27 minutes as Iolo Hughes touched down after a neat passage of play, but this joy proved to be short-lived thanks to a Jack Moriaty score and Lennon conversion on 34.

Just before the break saw Lennon dart over on 38 minutes to put Nant further in the ascendancy, with the same player firing over the extras.

After the interval saw Ifan Jones add to the visitors’ tally with another try on 46 minutes which Lennon converted, and Lennon capped off a brilliant individual display with two quick-fire tries for his hat-trick on 61 and 68 minutes.

He converted both of his own scores, and despite late scores from the home side through Mac Jones and Dominic Yau it was not enough to prevent the champions-elect from notching their 15th victory in 16 league contests.
