CARL FORSTER felt the better team lost as North Wales Crusaders were cruelly pipped by a solitary point in their epic showdown with Oldham.

Crusaders were leading for much of the encounter at Colwyn Bay’s Stadiwm CSM, but Danny Craven’s last minute drop goal made sure of a 25-24 success for title-chasing Oldham.

Head coach Forster told Crusaders’ Facebook page: “Outstanding. The better team lost.

“You know, they’re a Championship club and they ground us down to a point where we didn’t have any fit players on the bench.

“Time was on their side. Obviously, they nailed the one with 30 seconds to go, but I thought we were outstanding.”

Ben Evans, Pat Ah Van (pictured above), Kieran Taylor and Ollie Davies grabbed the tries for the Crusaders and there was a terrific atmosphere throughout the 80 minutes.

Reflecting on the fans, Forster added: “Outstanding. Really good.

“They were doing their part to get us home and obviously Oldham brought a great following.

“It was a great game of rugby league.”

North Wales will return to action on Sunday, June 16 when they play host to Workington Town.
