AN IMPRESSIVE bowling display was not enough to prevent Abergele from falling to a one-wicket home loss at the hands of Buckley.

The hosts were left counting the cost of a disappointing batting performance during a contest that was played in perfect conditions for those in the field, with Gele restricted to just 87 all out from 36.5 overs at the crease.

Only three batsmen managed to make it into double-figures for the home side. David Williams top-scored with a 19 knock, Edward Rooney contributed 17 and Wasim Ali finished the innings unbeaten on 15.

This was down in no small part to a superb seven-over spell from Jack Whitley, who claimed three wickets for the loss of just 12 runs with one maiden.

Another standout performer was Williams Normal, who also helped himself to three scalps at the expense of 15 runs.

Lewis Tolond got Gele off to a good start with the top-order wickets of Rocco Franco (4) and Sam Evans (12), with Chetan Upadhyaya taking out dangerous opener Sam Edwards for just ten.

Upadhyaya added Jack Williams (13), Joel Sampson (2), and Josh Bignall (1) to his list of victims on his way to figures of 4-21. David Moulson gave the hosts a fighting chance late on after removing top-scorer Jack Massey for 32.

The visitors had one wicket in hand when they finally got over the line. William Norman got the winning runs to ensure they reached their required target by the narrowest of margins after 32.5 overs in the middle.
