NANTLLE Vale’s Lock Stock Cookson Cup journey ended at the semi-final stage after they were beaten 4-2 at home by Denbigh Town.
Danny Bell’s side enjoyed a fine run in the competition before eventually falling short at the hands of the third-tier title hopefuls, but they started the game well and went ahead on 19 minutes when Sion Wyn Williams converted an opportunity.
Gradually the visitors began to impose themselves on proceedings as the half wore on, and they levelled things up a minute before the break thanks to a Jake Walker header after good work from Dan Lloyd.
The former St Asaph City standout was in the right place once again after the break to volley home a Chris Bennett cross for his second of the afternoon on 66 minutes to put the away side ahead, and they doubled their advantage courtesy of a fine strike from Jacob Barrett with 73 on the clock.
Barrett was on hand to all-but secure Town’s passage to the final when he capitalised on an error from the Vale goalkeeper to prod into an empty net.
The hosts were reduced to ten men late on but did manage to get another consolation through Rhys Williams on 83 minutes.
Bodedern Athletic’s Barritt Cup quest ended at the second-round stage with a 2-0 loss at Glan Conwy.
Colwyn Bay loanee Morgan Owen gave the home side an early lead on 25 minutes, and Ian Pattison notched their second following the interval on 50 minutes.
Barmouth and Dyffryn United also exited the competition with a 3-1 reverse at Llandudno Junction, with William Jones netting a late consolation for the Magpies.
