NEFYN United were the victims of a NWCFA Junior Cup giant-killing after they fell to a 4-3 home loss at the hands of Llysfaen.

The Gwynedd League side’s lengthy unbeaten run came to an end after a shock result against the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One leaders, who have yet to lose a contest during the campaign.

The away side got off to a blistering start that put them in a commanding position, with Sean Sheridan despatching all four of their goals against the Gwynedd League outfit to extend what has been a memorable campaign so far for the talented forward.

Credit to the home side, who made a fight of things late on, but despite Steve Jones (2) and Dylan Sion Jones finding the net it was not enough to prevent a major scalp.

There was better fortune for Talysarn Celts, who advance to the quarter finals thanks to a thrilling 6-4 extra-time win over Mountain Rangers.

A sensational hat trick from Berwyn Williams did the majority of the damage, with Gwyn Thomas, Gavin Davies and Luke Baum also hitting the target as they emerged from the tie following a real scre from the Anglesey League outfit.

Gwynedd League champions Menai Bridge Tigers also secured a last eight berth with a comfortable 4-0 home success over Arriva Bangor.

A Callum Davidson effort on 17 minutes gave the home side an advantage after the break, with Ryan Barker and Gareth Owen among the scores in the second period to book their place in the hat.

Caergybi’s cup exploits ended with a heavy 7-1 reverse at Abergele, with a Gary Jo Owen consolation all the visitors had to show from a disappointing afternoon.
