BRO Cernyw threw a spanner in the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division title picture thanks to a 4-1 home rout over Llanfairfechan Town.

The encounter between two in-form sides was the only league fixture that survived the terrible weather conditions, and Bro took full advantage to give their unlikely championship quest a massive boost.

The result is also good news for Rhuddlan Town, with Llanfairfechan considered to be their main contenders for the crown and were unable to close the gap with one of their games in hand.

A strong start from the hosts saw them go into the break with a slender cushion, something they managed to increase with a tremendous second half showing to cement their position in third and move within touching distance of second-placed Abergele.

Robin Hughes was in clinical mood throughout the one-sided affair, netting a brace to play a leading role in his side’s success.

Ioan Williams and Ianto Roberts also managed to find the net for the home side, who extended their outstanding form following the Christmas break.

Credit to Town, who kept fighting until the end despite their deficit and they notched a consolation to show for their efforts, courtesy of a new finish from Jacob Frazer.
