HOLYHEAD Hotspur manager Darren Garmey was “very disappointed” with the venue chosen for his side’s crunch FAW Trophy semi-final clash against Llandudno Albion.
The Holy Islanders’ will take on their Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One rivals for a place in the final, with the fixture scheduled to be played at Maes Tegid, the home of JD Cymru Premier side Bala Town.
Albion managed to secure an impressive victory over Spurs’ earlier in the campaign, and the Holyhead manager is fully aware of the threat they will need to overcome to reach the showcase.
Garmey, said: “We are happy with the draw from the point of view that we are not going into the unknown, but saying that, I am sure there was easier draws as Albion are a quality side.
“They beat us well earlier in the season, and that seemed like a reality check for us after such a good start in Tier 3.
“They are a well-established side who have all played together for a few seasons now and we will be expecting a tough game from them in what I imagine is the biggest game in the club’s short history.
“I have to say the venue chosen is very disappointing, there was a great opportunity to make this game a spectacle for the fans with two reasonably close teams, but unfortunately now this will not be the case.”
Garmey is keen for his side to make even further progress between now and the end of the season in their pursuit of a historic quadruple, but highlighted the need for his squad to keep their eyes on their main prize and secure promotion back to the JD Cymru North at the first time of asking.
“We have to be pleased with the position we are in at this stage, but we as management and the players are fully aware it could be better and that we need to keep on improving between now and the end of the season if we want to have something to show for our efforts,” he added.
“We have a great bunch of lads here now with every one of them pulling in the same direction with the attitude that the teams need’s come above anything else.
“The priority is and has always been to gain promotion at the first time of asking. There is still a long way to go and with the inevitable fixture pile up, we know we have a lot to do between now and May so we will not be taking our eye off the prize anytime soon.”
