FORMER Wales international James Collins will be the guest speaker at a special Bangor 1876 fundraising event.

The ex-West Ham United and Cardiff City standout will attend the event, scheduled for Friday, February 21, with the occasion looking to raise a considerable sum for the Gwynedd League’s newly approved Development Centre.

This comes following the news that Collins’ Football Academy will be holding a half term camp at their Treborth base which received an incredible response from aspiring players throughout the region.

Iwan Williams, Bangor 1876 director of football, said: “James Collins is a great character with a wealth of experience who was part of the Wales Euro 2016 squad.

“I’m sure James will provide us with some entertaining stories on the night and hopefully fans can support what promises to be a great evening.”

The evening will start from 7.30pm at Bangor University’s Reichel Hall, with tickets costing £25 per head.

In addition to hearing from Collins, there will also be an auction and raffle with plenty of exciting items up for grabs, in addition to a hot buffet for those in attendance to enjoy.

Proceeds will be going towards the Bangor 1876 Development Centre and there will also be a collection for Mind Cymru following our recent partnership in the ‘We wear the same shirt’ campaign.

A club spokesman, added: “Bangor 1876 would like to thank Sam Wallwork of Bangor University’s Canolfan Brailsford for his help in organising this event.”
