TEN-man Bangor City put in a commendable effort away to Deeside Ramblers 4ths on Saturday, as they eventually succumbed to a 5-1 defeat.
Travelling to Tiverton a man short of a full team, the Blues were facing an uphill task even before the first whistle.
Bangor defended solidly during the opening exchanges, keeping the home team out and mounting some attacks of their own.
The Ramblers eventually broke the deadlock with a well-converted short corner, before repeating the feat shortly after to go two-nil up. City responded well, with the young attacking quartet of Harry Street, Patrick Wright, Harry Collins-Jones and Flynn Holt causing problems.
Ash Hardaker also had a goalbound effort saved, before Bangor deservedly pulled one back before half time with a somewhat scrappy goal, finished by Harry Street after good work from skipper Paul McCallum.
The City defence and keeper Keith Proudlove were busy throughout the second half, as Deeside began to take advantage of their numerical superiority.
Despite a host of brave blocks, interceptions and saves from the away side, the Ramblers managed to find the net a further three times during the second period to seal the victory against a hard-working City outfit.
Next up for Bangor is a home match against Rhyl, 2.15pm pushback at the Ffriddoedd astroturf pitch.
