PENRHYNDEUDRAETH continued their recent resurgence and held off a late fightback to seal a 3-2 win at Nantlle Vale.
The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One struggles produced arguably their best performance of the campaign against Danny Bell’s talented side, which moves them into eighth spot having played several more games that others around them in the standings.
The visitors got off to the best possible start when Cai Henshaw broke the deadlock with the opening stages of the clash, and they increased their lead following the break thanks to a superb strike from Tom Hughes with 63 on the clock.
Credit to the home side, who remained undeterred despite their latest setback and got themselves back into the tie on 81 minutes when Matthew Davies successfully diverted into the net.
This joy proved to be fleeting as the away side restored their two-goal advantage on 88 minutes when Adam Griffiths hit the target, and although Vale netted immediately following the restart through Aaron Thomas it was not enough to secure a share of the spoils from an entertaining affair.
Llanrug United also scooped a notable three points on their travels with an eye-catching 3-0 triumph at Bodedern Athletic.
Last season’s runners-up have enjoyed a rich period of form recently but were no match for a formidable United outfit on the day, with first half goals from Dylan Owen and Alan Mark Owen giving them a commanding lead heading into the break.
They added to their tally late on through Jonathan Sadler to round off the scoring and move them into 11th.
Llanberis are now ninth following a 2-0 win at Llandyrnog United, with Gwyn Pritchard Jones and Ifan Mansour netting either side of half time.
