BANGOR City’s frustrations in front of goal returned as they were held 0-0 at Penrhyncoch.

The Citizens’ reverted to their old ways after hitting three in a win over Llangefni Town during their previous JD Cymru North contest, leaving Pedro Pasculli’s men occupying eighth spot as they prepare for a trip to Corwen on Saturday.

The visitors were unable to make the most of some impressive possession early on, with Emmanuel Agyemang thwarted on two occasions by the resolute Roosters’ rear-guard.

Recent re-signing Alex Boss was causing plenty of problems down the right hand side with his trademark pace, with forward Francesco Serafino firing an attempt on 17 minutes that deflected narrowly wide.

James Thomas’ corner evaded everyone and looked destined for the net on 20 minutes before it was hacked off the line at the last second, and Boss also came within inches of breaking the deadlock when his strike from a tight angle midway through the half was also diverted away from danger.

After the break saw Agyemang fluff his lines on 48 minutes when he somehow missed the target from close range after a superb delivery from Boss, but the home side were showing signs of life and were unlucky not to open the scoring on two occasions just before the hour mark.

Imposing defender Simone Rea’s bullet header from a corner on 63 minutes rattled the crossbar with the keeper beaten, and Serafino blazed a shot over when he was sent through on goal with 81 on the clock.

City’s final opportunity arrived in stoppage time and fell to Piero Cauterucci, who made space for himself but was unable to find the target as both sides had something to show for their efforts.
