PRESTATYN Sports’ search for a first league win of the season goes on after they were beaten 2-0 at Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One outfit had nothing to show from a performance that was once again full of commitment, leaving Sion Williams and John Hargreaves’ side six point adrift of second-from-bottom Llandyrnog United at the basement.

Things do not get any easier for Sports this weekend, with title-chasing Denbigh Town making a trip to their Gronant base on Saturday.

The visitors had their backs to the wall early on when prolific striker Meilir Williams extended his fine run of goalscoring form with a superb strike to break the deadlock.

Sports were unable to convert any of the chances that came their way after going behind, and they were made to pay for their lack of conviction in front of goal when Iwan Jones took advantage of some space to double the Quarrymen’s advantage and complete the scoring.

This was the ninth time in ten league away games on their travels that Sports have tasted defeat this season, and following their game against in-form Denbigh this weekend they also come up against Greenfield, Penrhyndeudraeth, Nantlle Vale and Llanrug United during February.
