BANGOR City moved into the JD Cymru North’s top eight with a 3-1 home victory over Llangefni Town.

The Citizens’ came through their Friday night fixture against a stout Cefni side with their eighth win in 18 second tier encounters this term, and Pedro Pasculli’s side will look to build on this positive momentum during their tricky looking trip to Penrhyncoch on Saturday.

Chris Roberts’ side remain fifth from bottom in the standings and two points clear of Buckley Town having played three games more, but they have a good chance to get back to winning ways this Saturday when Town entertain basement dwellers Llanfair United.

A scoreless first period saw both side wasteful with the opportunities that came their way, but the home side managed to draw first blood after the break when a Francesco Serafino corner was headed into the net by Simone Rea on 58 minutes.

Town dusted themselves off following the setback and managed to level proceedings on 74 minutes when Alun Roberts took advantage of some rare space to hit the target.

Their joy proved to be short-lived as City regained the upper hand on 79 minutes when Serafino’s cross was collected by Emmanuel Agyemang, who muscled off a challenge before conjuring up a composed finish with the outside of his right foot into the corner.

Agyemang had a golden chance to wrap up the points when he was sent through on goal immediately after the restart, but the physical striker was brought down by Tyler French just outside the area which resulted in a straight red card for the Cefni stopper.

This proved even more crucial once play resumed, with Serafino delivering an expert strike into the top corner from the resulting free kick to complete the scoring and enable the hosts to see out the remainder of the game with minimal fuss.
