NANTLLE Vale’s FAW Trophy quest ended at the fifth round stage with a 3-1 home loss to Brymbo.
The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side were unable to make the quarter final despite a spirited effort against the Welsh National League title contenders, and they will look to put this disappointment behind them when they travel to Denbigh Town for a pivotal Cookson Cup semi-final this Saturday.
The visitors got off to a strong start and went ahead on 11 minutes when Lee Clarke found some space and finished well, but Vale responded well to the setback and restricted their opponents throughout the remainder of the first period, creating some chances of their own in the process.
After the break saw Vale fall further behind on 53 minutes when Billy New converted a chance, and things went from bad to worse immediately following the restart when Liam Jones hit the target with 55 on the clock to all-but condemn them to defeat.
Credit to Danny Bell’s side, who remained committed despite the deficit and they managed to secure a consolation effort on 65 minutes thanks to a powerful strike from Phil Warrington.
This did not have an impact on the overall outcome despite Vale throwing everything at their opponents late on.
