BODEDERN Athletic kicked off the New Year in style thanks to a 1-0 home success over Greenfield.
Last season’s Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One runners-up have firmly found their feet after a difficult start to the campaign, and their latest triumph sees them move into seventh with games in hand on those above them.
The deciding moment of the contest arrived shortly after the break when Dean Redmond, who has impressed considerably since a summer move from Gwynedd League champions Menai Bridge Tigers, was in the right place to steer in a chance and attain three points for the hosts.
Llanberis are close behind Ricky Williams’ men in eighth following a 2-0 home win over St Asaph City.
A strong start from the home side saw them go ahead on 19 minutes when a slick attack presented a chance to Dillon Parry, who demonstrated tremendous composure to slot into the corner and give his side a slender advantage.
They netted again crucially just before the break when standout Tomos Saynor made the most of the space afforded to him to turn in another opportunity and increase the home side’s advantage after an impressive first period.
A stoppage time attempt from Liam Jones was the difference as Penrhyndeudraeth gained a pivotal 1-0 triumph at Llandyrnog United, but there was no such luck for Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs during their heavy 4-1 home loss at the hands of Llandudno Albion.
Carl Griffiths was on target for Llanrug United in their 2-1 defeat at in-form Glan Conwy, and the talented duo of Dion Roberts and Cai Henshaw found the net for Nantlle Vale in their 2-2 home draw with Llanrwst United.
Mynydd Llandegai also scooped a point on their travels as goals from Iwan Owen, Gavin Owen and Liam Willingham gave them a 3-3 stalemate at Prestatyn Sports.
