TALYSARN Celts caused a huge stir at the Gwynedd League summit with a shock 3-1 home win over Trearddur Bay Bulls.

The one-time leaders fell to only their third loss in 13 league contests so far this term, and they got off to the worst possible start when a fine attacking move from the hosts was finished off in style by Rhodri Jones with just two minutes on the clock.

Another spell of outstanding possession saw the Celts’ go further in front thanks to a Jac Jones attempt on the half hour mark, but the visitors came out with a renewed sense of purpose after the break and gave themselves a fighting chance of securing a point when Iolo Jones converted a penalty on 70 minutes.

The away side threw caution to the wind soon after in search of a leveller, but they were undone by a quick counter attack on 80 minutes that resulted in Gerwyn Williams completing the scoring.

Defending champions Menai Bridge Tigers got their season back on track with a 2-0 home triumph over Llangoed.

Mitchell Jones gave the hosts a deserved lead at the break with a well-taken effort on 19 minutes, and a successfully converted chance from Callum Davidson with 68 on the clock doubled their tally and secured three points.

Goals from Iwan Williams and Ryan Jones played a leading role for Bro Goronwy in their 3-0 victory at Ogwen Tigers, and a brace apiece from Shaun Morris, Andy Clarke and Dewi Thomas sealed an emphatic 8-0 home rout over Llannerchymedd.
