BANGOR 1876 have strengthened their heavyweight squad with the arrivals of Sion Parry and Ryan Pope.

The pair join the Gwynedd League title favourites from Porthmadog and Llanfairfechan Town, adding to the embarrassment of riches already at Mel Jones’ disposal for the second half of the campaign.

Prolific forward Parry netted an outstanding 49 times for Port’s reserve side last term, in addition to finding the target at JD Cymru North level as part of the senior set up.

He also boasted a considerable pedigree during his time at Llanystumdwy, where he scored more than 100 times and had an impressive overall record of 277 in just 232 senior games over a seven-year period.

Parry’s signature bolsters a formidable attacking unit at 1876 further, with the likes of Les Davies, Jamie Petrie, Dylan Summers-Jones and Benn Lundstram scoring more than 100 goals in all competitions and 79 in 11 league games.

Talented young midfielder Pope has enjoyed a standout campaign for the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division title challengers, and the 20-year-old began his fledgling career at the prestigious Liverpool and Wrexham academies.

Pope has also turned out for Conwy Borough in recent years.
