BANGOR 1876 produced another goal-glut and moved to within one point of Gwynedd League leaders Trearddur Bay Bulls with a 6-0 win at Caergybi.

The title favourites extended their 100 per cent league record with another clinical display on their travels, and Mel Jones’ men also have three games in hand on the Bulls heading into a crucial stage of the campaign.

The away side were rewarded for their early dominance on 14 minutes when Les Davies teed up Cian Williams for a neat finish from just inside the area, but they were unable to add to this during the remainder of the first period thanks to some wayward finishing and some resolute defending from the hosts.

Their fortunes improved significantly after the break, with the fan-owned club doubling their tally on 51 minutes when prolific forward Jamie Petrie converted from close range at the second attempt, and this was followed by a third midway through the half when Benn Lundstram got ahead of his marker at the far post to convert a cross.

A rampant 1876 secured another three points on 73 minutes when gifted youngster Dylan Summers-Jones produced a scintillating first-time effort that flew into the net, and Petrie notched his second of the afternoon with a fine individual run and finish with 80 on the clock.

There was still time for the away side to rub further salt into the hosts’ wounds, and once again it was Summers-Jones who was the beneficiary of some outstanding build-up play to secure his race and complete the rout with a minute remaining.

Next up for a relentless 1876 side is a home encounter with Llanystumdwy on Saturday, which could see them reach the summit with victory.
