BODEDERN Athletic began their Barritt Cup quest in exceptional form with a resounding 8-0 success at Pentraeth.
Last season’s Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One runners-up made light work of their opening test in the knockout competition, and prolific striker Aden Clarke was the star of the show during a clinical display from Ricky Williams’ men.
The talented forward was in ruthless form throughout the tie on his way to a four-goal salvo, with Ryan Taylor and Dean Richmond also in good form to secure a brace apiece during the rout.
Llanrug United also booked their place in the hat thanks to an eye-catching 4-1 triumph at in-form Nantlle Vale.
Two goals from experienced forward Kev Lloyd did the majority of the damage, with Carl Griffiths and Gavin Lloyd Jones also hitting the net for the visitors. Rob Daniels score Vale’s consolation.
Aberffraw pulled off an upset with a superb 2-1 hone win over Prestatyn Sports thanks to goals from Gethin Jones and Liam Williams, coupled with a sensational goalkeeping display from Caron Hughes.
There was no suck luck for Pwllheli, who bowed out of the competition with a 5-1 home loss to Greenfield thanks to a four-goal performance from Sam Jones, and Y Felinheli also failed to reach the second round despite Iwan Owen finding the net in their 2-1 home reverse to Llannefydd.
Gaerwen did managed to reach the next stage of the competition in dramatic fashion with a shootout win at Penmaenmawr Phoenix.
The game ended one apiece after an enthralling tie between the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two championship contenders, with the visitors emerging victorious 4-2 on penalties.
