LLANGEFNI Town’s positive recent form came to an abrupt end as they fell to a 3-0 home loss at the hands of Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant.
The newly promoted JD Cymru North side turned in a lacklustre second half display that was the catalyst behind their downfall, and things get no easier for them this weekend as they gear up for a home clash with Rhyl on Friday night.
Manager Chris Roberts, said: “There was a lack of desire to get on the ball, we couldn’t keep possession, it just wasn’t good enough I have told the lads exactly that.
“We did okay in the first half but once again we have failed to take our chances. There was plenty of delivery into the box but just no bodies on the end of them and that is frustrating.
“We couldn’t string two or three passes together in the second half and just weren’t able to create anything. When we conceded it was as if we pressed the self-destruct button and crumbled.
“They were poor goals to give away and we all need to take a long hard look at ourselves and try to out things right. I believe in the lads and they’ve shown they can do it, so it is just a case of how they now react to this loss.”
The home side started the game on the front foot during the first period, but they were unable to convert any of the numerous opportunities they made for themselves which came back to haunt them following the break.
Sam Thomas unleashed a long-range thunderbolt to give the visitors a crucial advantage on 46 minutes, and they extended their cushion thanks to a Matti Jones penalty with 63 on the clock.
A miserable afternoon for Cefni was brought to a close on 83 minutes when Matt Evans benefitted from some strong approach play to fire home from eight yards to complete the scoring.
