GWALCHMAI remain top of Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two after they came from behind to secure a 2-2 home draw with Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

The title rivals were involved in a hugely entertaining affair that ended all-square, with Martyn Jones’ side taking a slender advantage into the interval thanks to a fine strike from Daniel Hughes with 19 on the clock.

Things got even better for the visitors after the break when a neat passage of play was finished off by Jonathan Hunt on 63 minutes to double their advantage, but prolific striker Marc Evans ensured a nervy end to proceedings when he halved the deficit with 16 remaining.

The former Llandudno and Melville United standout was on target yet again late on, salvaging a point for the hosts on 81 minutes.

Gaerwen closed the gap on the pacesetters thanks to a resounding 4-1 home rout over Llandudno Junction.

First half goals from Connor Gordon, Iwan Williams and Steve Jones gave the hosts a commanding cushion at the break, and Sean Pritchard added to their tally late in the second period.

Y Felinheli now occupy second spot after a 6-1 victory at Pentraeth, with Ifan Stead (2), Iwan Owen, Gruff John, Ryan Cain and Aled Griffiths hitting the target for the championship contenders.

Gary Boulton, Richard Roberts and Liam Williams netted for Aberffraw in their 3-0 triumph at Mochdre Sports, but there was no such luck for Barmouth and Dyffryn United as a Nico Clwyd strike condemned them to a 1-0 home defeat to Llannefydd.
