LLANGEFNI Town picked up another positive result on their travels with a 2-2 draw at Gresford Athletic.
The newly promoted JD Cymru North side have now secured four points from their last two fixtures following manager Chris Roberts’ public criticism of his squad, leaving them in 13th spot with games in hand on those around them ahead of their crunch home clash with Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant on Saturday.
The away side began the game in good form but were unable to take of the chances that came their way during the opening exchanges, and they were made to pay towards the end of the period when a Kieran Evans cross was met by the head of Jack Jones to give Athletic an advantage heading into the break.
After the interval saw the visitors come out of the blocks flying and they got back on level terms on 49 minutes when Steffan Jones reacted first to turn in a rebound after home custodian Ben Jones had brilliantly diverted an initial Cefni effort.
This joy proved to be short-lived however, as the hosts seized control of the clash soon after the restart when Jordan MacCarter’s powerful drive sailed past Tyler French on 54 minutes after the physical forward linked up extremely well with teammate Jake the in the build-up.
Credit to the away side, who responded exceptionally well to their latest setback and levelled proceedings once again on 61 minutes when influential midfielder Jamie Roberts timed his run perfectly before unleashing an effort past Jones into the corner.
Cefni’s hopes of securing three points were given a significant boost on 71 minutes when Nathan Williams was shown a red card, but despite dominating possession for the remainder of the clash they were unable to come up with a crucial third goal and had to settle for a point.
