GLAN Conwy moved into the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One’s top five thanks to a 3-2 home win over Penrhyndeudraeth.

The home side began the game on the front foot and went ahead on 20 minutes thanks to a fine strike from Conor Davies, but they were pegged back after the break when a neat passage of play from the visitors was finished off by Adam Griffiths with 50 on the clock.

A strong passage of play from the hosts on the hour mark saw them go ahead for a second time through Aaron Boyle, only for Pen to peg them back yet again with 80 gone thanks to another well-taken effort from Griffiths.

There was still time for further drama, which arrived five minutes from time when Davies pounced for his brace to give Howard Vaughan’s side all three points.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix lost top spot in Division Two after they were narrowly beaten 3-2 at Holyhead Town.

Goals from Owain Roberts and Asa Thomas gave the Harbourmen a commanding advantage, before Dan Williams reduced the arrears on 48 minutes.

Lee Parry restored the home side’s two-goal cushion with 13 remaining, and despite a late strike from Williams it was not enough for Martyn Jones’ men to get anything from the game.

Mochdre Sports picked up a positive result on their travels with a 2-2 draw at Y Felinheli thanks to efforts from Alex Williams and Scott Brown.

The result leaves Sports in 12th spot with two wins and three draws from their opening 11 games.
