PENTRAETH RESERVES caused a cup upset on Saturday as they dumped Mountain Rangers out in the first round of the Benllech Car Boot Trophy.

Goals from Tom Jones, Matt Williams and Jack Halton, alongside a very gutsy display, saw Danny Jones' side through to the next round where they will play Bodorgan or Llandegfan.

Holders Arriva Bangor are also out at the first hurdle after losing 4-3 to Hotspur Reserves. Mike Jones, Mike Kelly and Mik Edwards had put the visitors into a 3-0 lead before a Scott Hughes hat-trick pulled The Busmen back level. However, Cameron Eaton struck late to make it 4-3 to Hotspur and send them through.

In the Anglesey League itself, Cemaes Bay stretched their lead at the top of the table to eight points with a 7-0 win over Cefni. Goals from Steven Whittaker (3), Dylan Jones, Keenan Downey, Tam Morton and Ryan Folksman sealed the deal for Darren Thomas' side.

Elsewhere, Valley beat Bodorgan 2-1 thanks to goals from Mike Williams and Andrew Bailey and Llanfairpwll swept Holyhead Town Reserves aside with a 9-0 win courtesy of goals from Callum Jones (4), Adam Thomas (2), Owain Davies, Kieran Williams and Aaron Jon Hughes.
