AMLWCH Town were unable to derail in-form Penmaenmawr Phoenix in a 5-3 loss on their travels.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two side fell behind on eight minutes when Danny Williams produced a fine effort to put the hosts in front, and they doubled their advantage soon after when talented striker Alfie Caldecott finished well with 12 on the clock.

Town responded well to the setback and reduced the arrears on 16 minutes when Ryan McKean steered an opportunity into the net, but the away side were undone again just before the break when Williams pounced again on 38 for his second of the afternoon.

After the break saw the visitors dig deep in difficult conditions to pull another back through Luke McGivern on 64 minutes, but they were unable to build on this momentum and conceded twice in the final quarter thanks to efforts from Caldecott and Ethan Jones to condemn them to defeat and move Phoenix up to second.

Gwalchmai now occupy fourth position in the standings after a dramatic late 3-2 victory at Pentraeth.

Prolific striker Marc Evans was the hero for the visitors, successfully converting a penalty in the dying moments to give his side the points.

Gareth Allman and Darren Roberts also found the net for the away side, with Rees Roberts and Gwyndaf Hughes on target for the hosts.
