LLANGEFNI Town manager Chris Roberts said he was proud of his side following their 2-0 loss at Prestatyn Town.
The newly promoted side gave the JD Cymru North leaders plenty to think about before eventually falling to defeat, but they can take plenty of positives from the performance ahead of their JD Welsh Cup first round clash at Rhyl on Saturday.
Roberts, said: “I felt disappointed as they were two poor goals to concede. I thought the first goal was miles offside and the second has hit the guy in the face and ended up in the net.
“We had some clear cut chances and can take a lot of positives from the game. We kept our shape, didn’t get dragged out of position and can be proud of the performance.
“When he is so far offside and nothing is given, things like that can affect us at the end of the season being a newly promoted side.
“I was expecting a lot more from Prestatyn to be honest with you. We got a better game at Flint and they battered us.”
The home side began the game on the front foot and almost went ahead early on when an Alex Jones header hit the side netting, and a quick break on 18 minutes resulted in Robbie Hughes firing a powerful effort over the bar.
They did not have to wait much longer for the opener, which arrived on 22 minutes when James Stead reacted first to a Jordan Davies attempt that came back off the post to put his side ahead from close range.
Things got even better for the hosts soon after when a testing delivery was narrowly diverted in by Jack Higgins to double the Seasiders’ tally with 24 on the clock.
Credit to the visitors, they remained resolute despite not having the ball for extended periods of the half, restricting Town to just one clear cut chance and having opportunities of their own, most notably through Matthew Jones at a crucial moment.
After the break saw Danny Davies, Michael Parker and Hughes spurn the best chances of the half, but the home side managed to see out the game in comfortable fashion to move eight points clear at the top of the standings.
