LLANGEFNI Town were dealt a harsh lesson during their heavy 7-0 loss at Flint Town United.
The newly promoted JD Cymru North outfit were no match for a clinical performance by the promotion hopefuls, and Chris Roberts’ men now have the weekend off to lick their wounds before taking on Llandudno on Friday, October 4.
Niall McGuinness’ side started the game on the front foot and their persistence finally paid off on 22 minutes when Nathan Brown latched on to a loose ball to despatch a chance past Cefni stopper Tyler French.
The away side responded well to the setback and spurned a good opportunity to level matters on the half hour mark when Craig Roberts sent Mike Lundstram through on goal, but the striker’s attempt was diverted by United keeper Jon Danby.
They were made to pay for this miss almost instantly when Brown notched his second of the afternoon, and the hosts all-but sealed three points just before the break when Mark Cadwallader rounded off a fine team move to open his account.
After the break saw the home side increase their advantage during the opening exchanges of the period when Brown completed his hat-trick with a neat finish from just outside the area, and Cadwallader also got in on the act once again soon after with an impressive finish from close range.
The former Rhyl FC standout was in ruthless mood and managed to seal his treble soon after when he flicked a corner into the net, and a miserable day at the office for Cefni was compounded late on when ex-Colwyn Bay forward Danny Andrews fired in a seventh to complete the rout.
