HOLYHEAD Town moved top of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two standings with a sensational 6-0 home rout over Pwllheli.

The Harbourmen made their intentions clear from the outset and went ahead on eight minutes through the prolific Asa Thomas, and they doubled their tally through a Dale Murphy finish with 31 on the clock.

After the break saw the home side all-but seal their victory on 59 minutes when Mark Thomas finished well, and this was swiftly followed by another that arrived courtesy of Shaun Thomas after 64 minutes of play.

Striker Gary Jo Owen made a return from injury in the final quarter of the contest and hit the ground running, firing a brace on 75 and 81 minutes to round off the scoring and set them up nicely for their crunch JD Welsh Cup clash at Holyhead Hotspur next weekend.

Town dethroned Gaerwen from top spot after they were beaten 3-0 at Penmaenmawr Phoenix, with a brace from Nathan Moore giving Aberffraw a pivotal 3-1 home success over Pentraeth to surge up the table.

Two goals in stoppage time from Cory Sinnott and Marc Evans gave Gwalchmai a thrilling 4-3 home win over title contenders Llannefydd, and a Ben Robertson brace was the highlight of Barmouth and Dyffryn United’s comfortable 3-0 victory at Amlwch Town.
