CONWY Borough moved up to fifth in the early JD Cymru North standings with a resounding 4-0 home triumph over Llangefni Town.

The Tangerines produced another dazzling demonstration of their attacking prowess to come away with three points against a side who have shown encouraging signs since joining the second tier, and the result sets them up nicely for their derby clash at Llandudno this Saturday (2.30pm).

A bright start from the hosts saw Corrig McGonigle flash a free kick wide of the target on ten minutes, with former Borough player Jamie Roberts forcing a smart stop from Ben Heald at the other end.

Warren Gibbs’ side did not have to wait much longer to break the deadlock as Tomos Clarke steered a corner into the net with 17 on the clock after Harry Galeotti narrowly missed shortly before.

Things got even better for the hosts soon after when McGonigle was presented with another dead-ball situation from the left-hand side of the penalty area, and this time the prolific forward unleashed a pinpoint effort that flew into the corner.

Chris Roberts’ side did not find the same level of performance to what they have produced so far this term, and they were undone again after the break when Liam Morris, who played a leading role in Cefni’s Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title win during the previous campaign, came back to haunt his old club on 66 minutes when his powerful effort went in off the crossbar.

There was still time for the home side to put the exclamation point on proceedings, and once again it was McGonigle who produced a moment of magic with a superb individual run that was matched by a finish that nestled in the top corner with 87 on the clock to round off the scoring.
