AN Italian musician is the mystery new benefactor at JD Cymru North side Bangor City.

The Chronicle understands that the father of Citizens’ forward Francesco Serafino is the one behind the recent takeover bid, that was officially concluded earlier this week.

It is believed that the popular musician plans to invest a considerable amount into the second tier side in the hope of returning the once-storied club back to its former glory following a troublesome 18 months that saw them drop from JD Cymru Premier runners-up and almost fall into the third tier before a successful arbitration hearing.

Serafino has amassed a huge amount of musical success in his native country during his career, and he enlisted the help of Italian legend Roberto Baggio for his music video "Chi mia Accompagna?".

He has also gained an impressive following in South America, playing to thousands across the continent in areas such as Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil.

The new owner will keep Stephen Vaughan Jr at the club in the position of manager once the takeover is formally completed, with City finally getting their JD Cymru North season underway on Saturday with a 0-0 draw at Conwy Borough.

City have acquired a number of young Italian players throughout the summer to strengthen their squad, and director of football Max Leghissa also hails from the same country as the prospective new owner.

Leghissa is believed to be “close friends” with Serafino having brought his son through the youth ranks during his time as a coach on the continent, per source.

Although nothing official has yet been confirmed by the club, a formal announcement is expected in the coming days.
