PORTHMADOG bolstered their squad ahead of the new JD Cymru North season with the re-signing of midfielder Jay Gibbs.
The mercurial playmaker returns to the second tier side following a successful spell last term after joining from Llandudno in January, playing a leading role for Craig Papirnyk’s side as they managed to secure a hugely creditable third place finish.
Gibbs was also one of the standout performers for the Ynys Mon men’s side that secure gold in the Inter Island Games tournament hosted on Angleseyduring the summer, before announcing he was taking a year away from the game to focus on other matters.
His circumstances have since changed and new Port boss Sion Eifion Jones wasted no time in bringing the talented player to the club.
He said: “Having Jay back for the season ahead is a big boost to everyone at the club.
“He's had a fantastic summer at the Island Games and. after having some time off, is excited to get going again with his football.
“With Jay's quality, his experience and his natural drive to win, we expect him to become a real leader in our team this season.
“We're all look forward to having him back at the Traeth.”
Gibbs is widely regarded as one of the best players operating at his position when he is in the mood, and he has previously turned out for high-profile sides such as Holyhead Hotspur and Caernarfon Town during a standout career to date.
