GAERWEN top the early Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two standings after a 3-1 home win over Kinmel Bay.

The title contenders extended their 100 per cent record with another polished display against strong opposition, netting 11 goals in their opening three games and conceding just two.

A tense first half saw the away side go into the break a goal to the good thanks to a fine strike from Anthony Colquitt, who continued his superb recent run of form to put Bay ahead on 39 minutes.

The second half saw Llion Jones net a leveller for the hosts on 52 minutes, and this was followed by another that came courtesy of an Iwan Williams finish to give them the lead for the first time with 69 on the clock.

The away side threw everything at their opponents late on in search of a leveller, but they were undone again in second half stoppage time when a quick break presented another chance to Jones, who converted yet again for his second of the contest to complete the scoring.

There was no such luck for Holyhead Town, who emerged from their contest at Mochdre Sports with a 2-1 loss, and goals from Stephen Jenkins, Daniel Moore and Gary Boulton were not enough for Aberffraw in their 5-3 defeat at Llannefydd.

A brace from Iwan Owen was the highlight of Y Felinheli’s 3-1 triumph over Amlwch Town, with Gareth Jones Evans and Cory Sinnott trading strikes as Pwlhelli were held 1-1 at home by Gwalchmai.

Barmouth and Dyffryn United picked up their first point of the campaign thanks to a goalless draw at Llandudno Junction.
