LLANGEFNI Town picked up a morale boosting friendly win ahead of their return to competitive action thanks to a 3-2 success at Cemaes Bay.
The newly promoted JD Cymru North side were involved in a thoroughly entertaining affair that will stand them in good stead for a Nathaniel MG Cup first round clash at Llanfair United on Saturday (2.30pm).
Despite the eventual result it was the home side who got their noses in front on 15 minutes, but Chris Roberts’ side responded well to the setback and levelled proceedings when Dan Thomas headed home with 16 on the clock.
After the break saw the visitors gain the advantage for the first time in the contest through an own goal a minute following the restart, and things got even better for the away side when Jamie Roberts produced an exceptional chip over the keeper that found its way into the net on 57 minutes.
Roberts made a host of changes midway through the half to get some much-needed minutes into his entire squad, and Bay brought some respectability to the eventual score with another consolation late on.
Llangefni Town Reserves came out on top in a feisty local derby against Anglesey league side Cefni FC with a narrow 2-1 victory, with goals from Gafyn Buckland and Dion Owen securing their success.
