CLWB Pel Droed Bangor 1876 have made another astute signing with the acquisition of Dion Jones.

The talented teenager has opted to join the Gwynedd League side following a brief spell at JD Cymru North side Llandudno, who snapped up the hot prospect earlier this summer.

The Llanfairfechan-based 18-year old progressed through the ranks of the Tudno Academy before becoming an integral part of the Chester FC Youth set-up over the past two seasons.

He captained Chester FC Youth to victory in the National League Alliance League Cup last season, and he is the latest player with huge potential to join Mel Jones’ squad for their inaugural campaign this term.

Jones made a hugely impressive start to life in an 1876 shirt, producing a standout display in the club’s 3-1 success over Welsh National League side Holywell Town in their historic first win at their Treborth base.

The youngster is expected to play a significant role within a set-up that has acquired a good mix of youth and experience for the challenges that lie ahead, with the likes of Les Davies, Michael Johnston and Jamie Petrie complimenting energetic talent such as Benn Lundstram, Luke Steele and Dylan Summers-Jones.

Bangor 1876’s friendly fixture at Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title challengers Bodedern Athletic has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, which will be their final outing before their expected championship challenge gets underway.
