BANGOR City have made a significant addition to their attacking options with the signing of Ashley Ruane.

The talented forward arrives at the VSM Stadium following a spell at JD Cymru Premier side Aberystwyth Town last term, which followed on from a brief time at Colwyn Bay under Alan Morgan.

Ruane was also part of the famous Warrington Town side that beat League Two outfit Exeter City in the FA Cup, and he played a significant role for Connah’s Quay Nomads in their success over Norwegian side Stabaek in the Europa Cup during the 2016/17 season.

The prolific striker has also represented Rhyl and Cefn Druids, where he played a leading role in Huw Griffiths’ men securing a Europa League spot after the most memorable season in the Ancients’ history.

Manager Stephen Vaughan Jr, said: “Ash will add valuable experience to the squad.

“He is a proven goal-scorer at the level above and with the mix of younger players plus himself and the other lads who have also played in the Welsh system, I believe we have a good variety that will stand us in good stead going into the new season."

The transfer is subject to approval from the Football Association of Wales, with the Citizens’ looking to put their off-the-field troubles to one side and give a good account of themselves in the newly named JD Cymru North.
