A TALENTED track and field star added to his list of impressive accolades with another national championship triumph.
Brett Parkinson, who hails from Caernarfon, took his place in the field at the Welsh Schools’ Athletics Championships in Cardiff, where he was competing in the javelin event.
The Ysgol Bryn Refail pupil was looking to clinch his second national title in succession following a memorable victory in the 2018 event, and Parkinson stood out considerably once again against some of the best young athletes in the country.
His standout throw was more then good enough to finish top of the podium and secure another gold medal at a high-profile event, enabling the 16-year-old to further enhance his reputation as one of the brightest young talented within that particular discipline.
It has been a busy time for the Parkinson family in recent weeks, with Brett’s twin sisters also gaining valuable national experience in the sport of cross country.
The duo’s exceptional form in various competitions both regionally and across the country impressed squad selectors, earning the pair a spot in the Welsh youth squad in both cross country and race walking.
