BANGOR City have outlined plans to form a new reserve side as part of ongoing changes at the club.

The Citizens announced the news via a statement on Thursday, July 18, which will see their second string compete from the upcoming campaign onwards.

This is the latest in a series of developments to the structure of the club over the summer months following a turbulent two years that have seen them drop from runners-up in the JD Welsh Premier League to having their second-tier status put in significant doubt.

The side will be run by Jamie Welsh and Colin Quirk, both of whom have been involved in grassroots and amateur football, as well as recruitment and scouting, across the North West and North Wales for some time.

A joint statement from the new management team, said: "We are grateful to the owner and chairman for this opportunity at such a massive club.

"And we believe we can attract and help develop players to push for the first-team over the coming months while working with any of the first-team players the manager requires us to."

The reserve side will be plying their trade in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Reserve League, which will see those on the fringes of the first team provided with competitive match experience in readiness for their step up.

Details regarding the first-team coach, physios will follow in due course.
