A LARGE number of Colwyn Bay school skiers achieved considerable success from a high-profile regional competition.

The Rydal Penrhos Prep School contingent claimed a medal haul from the recent North Wales Ski Championships to conclude what has been another exceptional campaign for the provision.

Year 6 pupil Fflur Pierce demonstrated her incredible talent on the slopes to come away with gold in the U14 girls’ category, with child prodigy Xavier Poynton emerging victorious in the U10 registered boys’ event.

Another notable performance came from Cameron Pye, who finished top of the podium in the U12 registered boys’ competition, and this enabled the Rydal Penrhos quartet of Daisy Yates, Fflur, Cameron and Xavier to scoop first place overall in the team category.

There were others that managed to achieve medal places as a result of their efforts, with the duo of William Hibbert and Will Glanville achieving second and third respectively in the U12 boys’ event.

Rounding off the achievements was Amber England-Bryant, who picked up a bronze medal in a very competitive U12 girls’ category.

Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “This was another exceptional performance from our skiing team here at Rydal Penrhos, who have committed themselves superbly to the programme in order to secure some notable results over the academic year.

“They can all be enormously proud of their efforts in a competitive environment, and hopefully this is a trend that can continue long into the future.”
