A FAMILIAR face has returned to Bangor City for a third spell with the club.

Combative midfielder Yalany Baio has re-joined the Citizens’ after leaving the squad during the January transfer window to sign for recently relegated JD Welsh Premier League side Llandudno, where he turned in a series of strong performances during the second half of the campaign.

Baio began his career as a member of the Sporting Lisbon Academy system, and has also been part of the Liverpool and Sparta Rotterdam man set-ups during a hugely encouraging career to date.

The 24-year-old also had a successful spell at Gibraltar United and is the latest player to be brought in by manager Stephen Vaughan Jr amid wholesale changes to the playing squad and backroom staff.

Vaughan Jr, said: “It’s fantastic to have Yalany back. He’ll bring the invaluable experience back to the club of the Welsh system and we know what we’re getting from him when he’s fit.

“It will be important to get him up to speed over the course of the remainder of pre-season, but it’s clear that he knows the club and we could be adding another one or two of his calibre before the beginning of the forthcoming campaign.”

Baio’s crowning jewel in a City shirt was helping the club attain a Europa League playoff place under Kevin Nicholson and Gary Taylor-Fletcher, which they were unable to participate in after failing to obtain an FAW Domestic Licence.

The transfer is subject to approval from the Football Association of Wales, who place a transfer embargo on the club that prevents them from signing players to professional contracts until the January transfer window.
