The Citizens’ were soundly beaten against a strong outfit in their latest pre-season fixture, and the home side opened the scoring on the quarter hour mark when Brad Wells opened the scoring with a fine header from close range.

Town managed to extend their cushion just before the break when Danny Glover finished well from a James Hurst cross on 36 minutes.

After the break saw the hosts extend their cushion on 70 minutes when Joey Evans unleashed a ferocious effort that found its way into the net, and Osebi Abadaki turned in an opportunity immediately following the restart with 71 on the clock.

The scoring was rounded-off on 75 minutes when Glover despatched his second of the afternoon from the penalty spot.

Vaughan Jr, said: “The first couple of weeks have been very hectic with 18 new players coming in, mainly from Italy, as well as five or six players coming on trial.

“We trained hard for a week and then had our first game against Mold which was a good exercise, with everyone getting some minutes on the pitch and a good performance and nice to get a win. More importantly, at this stage, was the match fitness for everyone.

“Being frank, we were beaten easily by a good side and we learned a lot from the game.

“All the lads who have come in now know the expected level and we will get back to work this week and prepare to get the players fit and ready for the next pre-season friendlies ahead of the Nathaniel Car Sales League Cup fixture against Conwy Borough on August 3 at the Y Morfa Stadium.”
