BANGOR Rugby Club have announced changes to their management structure for the upcoming season.

The WRU National League Two North side’s director of rugby Andy Baston has appointed Iolo Gwilym as team manager, with Sean Kelly taking on the role of head coach.

Kelly will also work with a talented group of forwards in addition to his head coaching position, with the ambitious club also confirming that Calvin Williams will be their new skipper going forward.

Another exciting addition to the backroom team in Mathew Baston, who has accepted the role of backs coach to further boost the club’s structure.

Members of the squad returned to the field on Tuesday, July 2 for their first-pre-season session, with a large turnout of senior and youth players congregating at the club’s training facilities to hear the exciting changes.

The club have set a top-six target ahead of what is expected to be another hugely competitive regional second tier, with the likes of Rhyl and District also harbouring big ambitious for promotion to Division One North.

They received another massive plus off-the-field recently in the form of a Welsh Rugby Union grant that will enable them to install floodlights in time for winter training.

Bangor will start the new campaign on September 7 with a tough away fixture against newly promoted Shotton Steel. Bangor will have a new set of floodlights for the winter sessions thanks to a WRU grant to replace all the lamps.

Preseason friendly games have been organised to follow a short tour of Ireland in August.

New players are welcome and should attend training every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm.
