CLWB Pêl-Droed Bangor 1876 Football Club have announced the signings of Iwan Williams and Jamie Petrie for the upcoming season.

The experience duo are the latest high-profile arrivals at the Gwynedd League club, who continue to make significant strides ahead of their first full season since inception.

Williams returns to a playing perspective after a prolonged period within the dugout at both Caernarfon Town and Llandudno, and he won the Huws Gray Alliance with the Cofis’ in 2016 before they were refused promotion after failing to obtain an FAW Domestic Licence.

He was granted compassionate leave by Tudno earlier this year and it was mutually agreed he would not remain at the club after they were relegated from the JD Welsh Premier League.

The 34-year-old also skippered Tudno as a player and has also turned out for Porthmadog and Newtown.

Petrie began his career in the colours of Middlewich Town, Congleton Town and Knutsford, before moving to Welsh domestic system to join Connah’s Quay Nomads.

He enjoyed a prolific spell with the Nomads that saw him secure a move to Bangor City in 2013, but his progress was hampered significantly by a serious leg break suffered in a contest against Newtown.

This resulted in a lengthy time on the sidelines, with the player representing Flint Town United once fully recovered.

Manager Mel Jones is busy talking to several more signings ahead of the club’s debut season after they were set up as an alternative fan-owned option due to disillusionment with Citizens’ chairman Stephen Vaughan Jnr.
