BANGOR City finally returned to on-the-pitch matters following a turbulent summer at the club.

The new-look Citizens’ squad took part in their first pre-season training session on Monday, July 1, which saw their recent signings from the continent take centre stage for the first time.

They will be plying their trade in the newly named FAW Tier 2 North League after avoiding relegation on goal difference thanks to the governing body slashing their original 42-point deduction in half.

The club also confirmed that it is continuing with its Academy structure during the season, which has been one of the cornerstones of the clubs success in recent years.

High-profile players such as Alex Boss and Sam Jones are the latest Academy graduates that have made the step up to JD Welsh Premier League level, adding their name to a long list of former youth products that have made it to the top of the Welsh pyramid system.

A Bangor City FC spokesman, said: “Contrary to recent speculation, Bangor City Football Club is delighted to confirm that it continues with its Academy status for the forthcoming season.

“New and existing players will be welcome at the open day trials to be held soon for all age groups, with further details to be confirmed in due course.

“New coaches are being sought for the new season for the foundation phase as well as the youth development and professional phases.
