LLANGEFNI Town have confirmed the appointment of Mike Innes as their new goalkeeping coach.
The popular figure arrives at the newly promoted FAW Tier 2 North League side following a hugely successful six-year stint with JD Welsh Premier League outfit Caernarfon Town.
After initially deciding to take a break from the game after stepping down from his role at the Canaries, Innes decided on a change of heart following a lengthy phone call with Cefni boss Chris Roberts.
He said: “It's great to be back coaching at my home town club Llangefni.
“When I decided to leave Caernarfon Town at the end of last season I had planned to take a little break from the game, but when Chris rang me and asked if I'd like to join the management team at Llangefni I didn't need much persuasion.
“The league this season will be tough and very competitive but it's a challenge that we're all looking forward to.
“It will be great to get to know all the keepers at the club and help them improve their all-round game.”
Innes was brought to The Oval by Lee Dixon and also worked under Iwan Williams and Sean Eardley, with his work coaching current Cofis’ number one Alex Ramsay contributing significantly to the stopper emerging as one of the best at his position anywhere in the Welsh domestic pyramid.
“Mike will be an integral part of the coaching staff not only for the goalkeepers within the club and our junior setup, but also his knowledge and experience of the higher leagues will be second to none,” added Roberts.
