ANOTHER RGC star could be on the move after reportedly attracting interest from a Principality Premiership rival.

Sam Jones, who has played a leading role in the Gogs’ incredible rise to prominence in recent years, is believed to have received an offer from top-flight champions Merthyr after a standout campaign under Mark Jones.

The pacey winger recovered from his recent injury problems to produce a series of exceptional displays for the Stadiwm Zip World based side over the course of the campaign, with the player also securing the Principality Premiership Try of the Week Award on multiple occasions.

Jones came through the Academy ranks at RGC at Rydal Penrhos School and Bangor University, where he obtained a sports science degree.

Should the move be confirmed, it would be another blow to the squad that have already lost Evan Yardley and Sam Wainwright during the off-season to Cardiff and English Premiership side Saracens respectively.

They will also be without the services of the head coach after Mark Jones stepped down following their final fixture victory, with the RGC Supporters’ Club expressing their concerns after it emerged that general manager Sion Jones has also left his post.
