CAERNARFON extended their positive start to the North Wales Cricket League Division Four season with a 34-run victory at Llandudno 2nds.

The away side set a modest target of 120-6 from their allotted 40 overs at the crease, with opener Jason Parry top scoring with a knock of 36 before he played a Dan Jones delivery into the hands of Alex Owen.

Grant Peisley and Montis Alaf also impacted the scoreboard with 24 and 16 respectively, with Richie Parry also making it into double-figures with 12.

Jones was the pick of the home bowlers with three wickets for the loss of 23 runs, and Lions’ skipper Hannah Thornton claimed a pair of scalps at the expense of 21.

The away side got off to a flyer in the field when Barry Roberts trapped opener Jack Thornton for eight, before Ian Morgan took over proceedings with the wickets of Owen (2), Ryan Bean (1) and Blake Barnes on his way to figures of 3-12 off nine overs.

Simon Davis also produced a standout spell that saw him remove David Barlow (26), Jones (3) Jon Hendry (0) and Jake Sumbland (20) all at crucial moments of the contest to finish the day on 4-17 as the hosts mustered 86 all out in reply.

The Cofis’ aim to extend their perfect start this Saturday when they travel to Llangollen.
